What Are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are fabricated tooth replacements designed for longevity and strength. They look and function like real teeth for a seamlessly restored smile.
Dental implants are comprised of three parts:
- Implant post: Made from titanium, this post is the “root” of your new tooth. It is fused to the bone of your mouth and creates a stable foundation for your abutment and restoration.
- Abutment: This is the connective part of your new implant. It screws into the implant post and is what your new restoration is attached to.
- Restoration: Also known as the dental crown, this part of your dental implant is the visible “fake” tooth that is matched to your natural tooth color and attached to your abutment and implant post for a sturdy, fixed restoration.
During your dental implant consultation with our dentists and team, Dr. Galina Nasakin and associates will examine your mouth and make a treatment plan devised for your specific needs. While the procedure itself is relatively quick, patients should expect longer recovery times after the implant is placed. Our team will explain expectations in more detail during your appointments with us.
